Course Code: PTM2
The 2-Hour Pre-Task Meeting course is designed to equip construction supervisors, forepersons, and workers with the knowledge and skills to conduct effective pre-task meetings that identify and address job-specific hazards before work begins. Pre-task meetings are a critical part of maintaining safety and compliance on construction sites, ensuring that all team members understand their responsibilities, potential hazards, and the safety measures in place.
This training covers the essential components of a pre-task meeting, including hazard recognition, job-specific safety planning, communication techniques, and regulatory requirements under OSHA and NYC Department of Buildings rules. By implementing effective pre-task meetings, construction teams can reduce the risk of accidents, improve jobsite safety culture, and maintain compliance.
This course counts as 2 Hours of Prescribed credit toward your Site Safety Training (SST) card and is valid for 5 years from completion unless otherwise specified by the New York City Buildings Department.

Learn to organize focused safety discussions before work begins so teams understand the work scope, sequence, hazards, controls, assignments, coordination needs, emergency considerations, and changes in conditions.
Review the task, location, sequence, equipment, materials, trade interfaces, site conditions, and potential fall, struck-by, caught-in, electrical, access, and task-specific hazards.
Identify applicable controls, PPE, access restrictions, inspections, permits, responsible persons, competent-person direction, emergency measures, and escalation paths.
Use clear briefings, questions, confirmation of understanding, multilingual support, coordination, respectful feedback, and an open environment for raising concerns.
Record hazards, controls, attendance, responsibilities, questions and follow-up; reassess and update the plan when scope, people, equipment, weather, or site conditions change.
Verify provider and course approval, eligibility, online delivery and identity rules, SST acceptance, documentation, and validity before relying on completion.
