Fall Hazards and Control Selection
Recognize edges, openings, roofs, ladders, scaffolds, access equipment and unstable surfaces; review elimination, guardrails, covers, administrative measures, and PPE.
Course Code: FP4
The 4-Hour Fall Prevention course provides construction workers, supervisors, and safety personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, evaluate, and control fall hazards in the workplace. Falls remain one of the leading causes of injuries and fatalities in construction, making this training a vital part of any safety program.
Participants will learn about OSHA and NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) fall protection requirements, proper use of personal fall arrest systems (PFAS), ladder safety, scaffold safety, and hazard recognition techniques. The course also covers safe work practices, inspection protocols, and how to respond to fall-related incidents.
This course counts as 4 Hours of Prescribed credit toward your Site Safety Training (SST) card and is valid for 5 years from completion unless otherwise specified by the New York City Buildings Department.

Build awareness of construction fall hazards and the planning, engineering controls, work practices, personal fall protection, inspections, training, reporting, and emergency preparation used to reduce exposure.
Recognize edges, openings, roofs, ladders, scaffolds, access equipment and unstable surfaces; review elimination, guardrails, covers, administrative measures, and PPE.
Study harnesses, connectors, lanyards, self-retracting devices, anchorage awareness, compatibility, clearance, swing-fall concepts, inspection, fit, and rescue planning.
Review selection, setup, access, inspection, load ratings, three-point contact, platforms, guardrails, openings, weather, falling objects, and competent-person direction.
Examine equipment checks, removal from service, unsafe-condition reporting, corrective action, worker instruction, incident response, rescue awareness, and documentation.
Verify provider and course approval, learner eligibility, online delivery and identity rules, SST acceptance, documentation, and validity before relying on completion.
